Spirit warrior

from £20.00

I did the rough sketches for this painting some twenty years ago and then got a bit distracted. I was indulging in my passion for folklore and discovered that near by Wormhill had a link with wolves and wolf hunting and was possibly even called Wolfhill at some point. There is a claim that the last wolf in England was dispatched at Wormhill Hall during the 15th Century, but I know of other places that make this rather sorry claim.

I've always been fascinated by wolves and inspired by their strong devotion to their pack consequently I've drawn them many times and was surprised to find that they have expressive faces and kind eyes not at all what a childhood watching the hammer house of horror lead me to expect.

Inspired by the legend I dug out those old sketches and filled them with colour I hope the spirit of wolf will forgive us our persecution and lend us strength and courage for the future.

All prints supplied signed by the artist printed on acid free 316 gsm 100% cotton fine art paper .
